Established in 1983, the Virginia Commonwealth University RRTC provides resources for professionals, individuals with disabilities, and their representatives. Our team of nationally and internationally renowned researchers is committed to developing and advancing evidence-based practices to increase the hiring and retention for individuals with disabilities.

Position Responsibilities:

Oversee Native youth with disabilities education and transition programs.
Lead research initiatives related to Indigenous youth adults with disabilities and other marginalized populations.
Conduct outreach and engagement of Tribal school, family, and community partners.
Produce scholarly work contributing to the literature and best practices for serving Native youth and adults with disabilities.
Develop a Culturally Responsive Support and Integrated Service model, curricula, and toolkit.
Provide training, technical assistance, and presentations on supporting Indigenous youth and families.
Design and contribute to products and resources in multiple formats for use by a variety of audiences focused on enhancing services and outcomes for Native youth with disabilities.
Leverage external funding to support innovation and new initiatives.
Expand community partnerships and opportunities for collaboration with Indigenous Nations and citizens.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in education or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years experience in teaching special education.
Demonstrated knowledge and leadership in transition for youth with disabilities.
Experience engaging families and establishing community partners.
Experience supporting students in community work settings.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in education or related field.
Tribal affiliation and experience.
Knowledge of research and the importance of data.
Experience working with rural schools and communities.
Experience collaborating with adult disability service agencies.
