DevOps Manager

State Fund Information Technology has an opening for a DevOps Manager in the Application Support unit. The DevOps Manager is responsible for the daily operations of State Fund business applications, infrastructure maintenance, build and deployment, and design.

The main responsibilities of this position include but is not limited to the following:
• Manage and oversee (plan, organize, direct, and control) the operations of release and infrastructure area of Cloud Ops
• Oversee the work assignments of an operational team (traditional on-prem data center and cloud) including pre-production and production environments
• Develop and implement policies, guidelines, standards, and build/deployment automation
• Assess / monitor operational processes and optimize performance of team
• Regularly review / monitor assignments to identify and address issues, needs, and incidents
• Develop procedures and workflow processes to streamline operations
• Collaborate with reporting Manager to prioritize projects, scheduled maintenances, and DR exercises of State Fund applications
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including but is not limited to the Development, Quality Assurance, and Infrastructure teams
• Ownership of pre-production and production environments of State Fund applications
• Develop metrics for team reporting and operations
• Available after hours and weekends as needed. On call 24/7 as needed

As a successful candidate you should,
• Have strong concepts of cloud technology including application migration strategy, infrastructure design and maintenance, and cloud services (AWS preferred)
• Have strong concepts on environment management / build and deployment / release management including extensive experiences in Build/Deployment automation, SCM, operations, troubleshoot, and maintenance.
• Strong project management skills with experiences managing multiple critical projects
• Possess excellent verbal/written and interpersonal communication skills
• Energetic, dependable, organized, and extremely detail-oriented
• Ability to design, plan, and execute to meet objectives and timelines
• Ability to design, plan, and implement policies, procedures, and workflow processes
• Ability to effectively work with and relate with other people and teams to keep projects on schedule and completion
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, tasks, incidents, and meetings
• Ability to demonstrate and lead by example
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deliverables

This position requires proficient knowledge of the following:
• Working knowledge of IT architecture and systems (preferred)
• Proficient knowledge of Cloud Technology, VMs, network, security best practice, Windows and Linux O/S, SQL and Oracle DBs, .NET and Java languages
• Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of personnel management and supervision to oversee the work activities of staff
• Knowledge of time management techniques to oversee efficient prioritization and completion of work unit tasks for staff and self
• Working knowledge of SDLC and Operations concepts
• Working knowledge of pre-production and production environments including server provisioning and monitoring tools
• Working knowledge of the Change & Release Management process and procedures
• Proficiency with Change, Problem, Incident tracking software

New to state candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of the alternate salary range when applicable. Placement to an alternate salary range may be based on education or experience identified in your state application.

Telework may be available and is subject to change based on State Fund guidelines and business needs.
