Your Role at Baxter:

Baxter's Product Delivery Excellence (PDE) group is an overarching, enterprise-wide organization focused to create a standardized new product development process across divisions and drive a uniform portfolio management process with metrics that enable divisions and segments to assess and monitor the impact of new product development projects.

As the Senior Director, Product Delivery Excellence, Policy, Process & Governance, you will be a critical thinker and senior leader, to facilitate the strategy, planning, governance, standards, guidelines and process improvement opportunities related to Product Delivery Excellence. Within this Center of Excellence, you will be responsible for Policy, Process, and Governance areas to create and implement common processes as a set of standards, allowing the management of multiple programs simultaneously in an effective and efficient manner. This will entail the definition and institutionalization of approaches, templates and applications for product delivery to ensure and continuously improve new product development and life cycle management. Common methodologies and best practices will be developed and leveraged across all divisions making it possible for project managers to work more seamlessly and effectively toward their objectives. You will coordinate and facilitate cross-division and cross-functional teams in the definition and continuous improvement of Baxter's Product Development Excellence opportunities.

What You'll Be Doing:
• Develop and lead the product delivery process including governance, requirements tracking, issue tracking and resolution, best practices development and communications, solution configuration and change management/control, and community collaboration within and across all segments
• Support business and project activities for technical, design, and gate reviews, as well as assist with preparation for business analysis and compliance
• Assist divisional and segment PMO teams and portfolio leads with product/portfolio review preparation
• Support the segment/divisional PMO Leads with their portfolio and project activities as needed
• Accountable for monitoring and improving the performance of all active pipeline programs and projects, working as partner with the various Segment Core Teams and functional leaders to drive the right rigor in product delivery planning, execution, and governance.
• Develops and implements project pipeline metrics, and actively engages senior management in review and continuous improvement based on project and pipeline performance.
• Develops and implements Program Management effectiveness metrics. Regularly surveys stakeholders, including core teams and management, to identify issues and opportunities for improving effective and efficient execution.
• Facilitates regular program and project reviews, testing for probabilistic planning, proactive risk management, and critical thinking to ensure predictability, quality, and communication.
• Create a systematic approach to improving project planning accuracy and project cycle time.
• Ensures effective execution of project governance meetings (gate- and project reviews), project intake/selection and regular portfolio reviews.
• Ensures clear prioritization and execution of all projects in accordance with expectations in terms of milestone deliverables and budget
• Conducts regular reviews to assess progress and adjusts to keep projects on track in terms of technical and quality deliverables, timelines, and budget
• Ensures effective communication at all levels of the organization, across core teams and with senior business leaders. Provides regular progress reports to management and stakeholders on PDE milestones and roadmap progress
• Expected travel 15%, though initially higher at 30%

Your Team:

As the Senior Director, Product Delivery Excellence, Policy, Process & Governance, you will report directly to Baxter's VP Product Delivery Excellence. As an individual contributor (no direct reports) you will work cross-functionally across Baxter's organization.

Your Location:

Working on-site, the role is located at our global corporate headquarters in the greater Chicago, IL area northern suburb of Deerfield or Round Lake. Alternatively, the role can work at one of our facilities in Cary, NC, Batesville, IN, Bellevue, WA, St. Paul, MN or in beautiful upstate New York in a bedroom community outside of Syracuse, Skaneateles Falls. Baxter is committed to supporting the needs for flexibility in the workplace. We do so through our flexible workplace policy which includes a minimum of 3 days a week onsite. This policy provides the benefits of connecting and collaborating in-person in support of our Mission.

What You'll Bring:
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Science or engineering field, Business Administration, or other related field, or equivalent work experience, is required
• 10+ years of management experience, with 6+ years of experience in a leadership type role within a multi-division portfolio management group
• Knowledge of the healthcare business environment and understanding of the competitive landscape particularly medical device strongly preferred
• Proven, experienced manager adept at directing, motivating and facilitating skilled professionals in a dynamic, high pressure, constantly changing environment
• 5+ years managing projects or programs across highly matrixed organizations
• 10+ years Program and/or Portfolio management experience
• Able to facilitate shared outcomes from cross-functional teams with competing priorities
• 3+ years technical experience with solution configuration and administration
• Strong analytical/strategic thinking skills. Ability to lead and provide strategic input and communicate complex ideas and strategies to executives
• Strong data modeling and PowerPoint presentation skills
• Team player who brings creativity to problem solving
• Self-starter and proactively thinks about opportunities to drive meaningful improvements
• Mature, self-aware individual with demonstrated leadership capabilities
• Highly competent communicator, both orally and in writing
• Comfortable in ambiguous and rapidly evolving situations
• Can maintain perspective and focus on key priorities for the overall business
• Proven change management experience to drive new processes and initiatives across an organization

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $208,000 - $312,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and/or long-term incentive.
