The Windows Silicon & System Integration team within Windows + Devices is on a journey to deliver iconic end-to-end products across hardware, software, and services that people love and use every day. We are seeking a talented Principal Technical Program Manager to help us further invest in our core platform technologies. You will be responsible for leading the definition and development from concept to prototype to implementation for several technology areas across Hardware and Software, delivering solutions across the portfolio. You will work with internal / external partner teams, product management, architects, development, quality assurance, and user experience teams to align objectives, create functional specifications, implement a plan, and ultimately deliver a high-quality, customer compelling products. The successful candidate will excel at collaboration, understand the software development product cycle from planning to release, have effective written and oral communication skills, have excellent cross-organizational and project management skills and thrive in a highly innovative, evolving, and ambiguous environment. This position will play a key role in defining our Windows strategy and experiences across a new class of silicon.

This position is located in Redmond, Washington and provides the option to work in a hybrid model, splitting your time between working from home 50% and working from the Redmond office 50%. Relocation does not apply/is not provided for the role.

Responsibilities

  • You will have the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of software and hardware, driving delivery of both current products as well as helping to define the future of our software and firmware solutions supporting Windows Client PCs.
  • Define multi-year technology roadmaps spanning both software and hardware; own and manage the feature backlog including scenarios and feature health.
  • Drive a culture of innovation and experimentation throughout the team. You will have the opportunity to work with inside and outside Microsoft to develop solutions that work across multiple devices. This will require deep software knowledge as well as hardware considerations for multiple platforms.
  • Lead development teams to create end-to-end customer experience goals, program plans, specifications, performance/quality metrics, production qualification plans, and conduct executive reviews.
  • Establish and manage effective working relationships with domestic and international partners

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • o OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • Experience using Azure DevOps products and services.
  • Experience working through a complete product cycle.


Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • o OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • Ability to communicate business problems, alternatives, and product strategy effectively throughout the organization, from executives to individual contributors and with external partners.
  • Ability to plan at both a strategic and implementation level, concisely frame problems, design simple solutions and make decisions based on data and metrics.
  • Growth mindset cultivating curiosity and learning with the ability to maintain a positive attitude and great judgment in fast-paced environments as well as a high tolerance for ambiguity and change.
  • Excellent cross-discipline collaboration and influencing skills with the ability to lead, drive change and influence without authority across groups.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
