Job Summary

Serves a lead role in analysis and implementation of the company's long-term regulatory strategy. Manages a team of analysts and/or consultants in monitoring and assessing industry regulatory developments and distilling and communicating actionable information to support the company's regulatory objectives. Exhibits strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Maintains strong communication with the operating companies to understand their business needs and develop constructive solutions to issues. In conjunction with the Director of Regulatory Strategy, consults and educates other business unit staff, including executive leadership, to optimize future regulatory outcomes for the company and our customers.

Job Description

  • Develop and implement long-term regulatory strategies that support the company's business objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze regulatory developments, industry trends, and market conditions that impact the company's operations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify regulatory risks and opportunities and develop mitigation plan in conjunction with the operating companies, build and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and other stakeholders to advocate for the company's positions and priorities.
  • Potentially represent the company in regulatory proceedings, including rate cases, compliance filings, and rulemaking processes.
  • Prepare and present reports, presentations, and other materials to senior management on regulatory issues.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal teams on regulatory matters, including compliance with regulatory requirements and policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct research and analysis of regulatory trends and developments in the industry.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory landscape and how it relates to the company's business strategies.
  • Provide reports and presentations to inform decision-making by senior management and stakeholders.
  • Manage teams working on regulatory special projects. Special projects often need to be scoped, researched, analyzed and summarized into actionable information.
  • Prepare and comment on policy and advocacy issues as needed.
  • Provide external affairs team with comments on potential legislative matters impacting the company's regulatory strategies.
  • Provide comments on position papers on regulatory issues to inform and influence decision-makers.


Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, accounting, finance, management, public policy, or a related field


Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years of electric utility experience with emphasis on one or more of the following -utility accounting and applications, rates, tariff development and application, commercial operations, management, finance, and/or other pertinent experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement complex regulatory strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex issues to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Compensation Range:

$129,963.00-168,952.00 USD
