MBDA Inc. is currently seeking a Director of Contracts. This is an exciting opportunity for a high-performing individual to join MBDA's Arlington, VA Team!

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and motivate the contracting and procurement team. A successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge and working understanding of the DoD acquisition and procurement environment, MBDA contracts function, relevant company policies and procedures, commercial contracting methods, FAR/DFAR, export and other government regulations.

  • Interface with various internal and external stakeholders to successfully negotiate and execute contracts and subcontracts, including terms and conditions
  • Manage contract performance and monitor progress to efficiently meet milestones and deliverables, ensure compliance with applicable laws, delivery schedules, payment provisions, contract data reporting requirements, and other contractual requirements
  • Maintain communications to ensure timely contract execution by the parties and ensure final contract documents are consistent with agreements reached at negotiations
  • Lead the purchasing function to solicit proposals for subcontractors, negotiate subcontracts to ensure appropriate flow down of prime contract requirements, and monitor subcontractors' performance and contract compliance
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, laws, government regulations and export controls
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the DoD acquisition and procurement environment, including FAR/DFARS. Knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) a plus.
  • Prepare government contract proposals, letters of intent, Teaming agreements, NDA's, funding reports, and monthly invoicing
  • Set objectives and performance metrics and motivate team to meet and exceed goals


SKILLS

  • Ability to develop solutions to complex contracting issues, using ingenuity and innovation
  • Defense Systems (equipment) related acquisition program experience
  • Proficient in drafting and negotiating complex teaming arrangements or other types of contracting arrangements
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with customers and suppliers
  • Ability to collaborate with and present to different levels of the organization including executive leadership


EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15+ Years of experience in Procurement, as well as 12+ years of Contracting experience or equivalent with the DoD and/or DoD Contractor
  • In-depth Experience with different contract types including firm fixed price, cost type, time and material contracts, and international FMS/DCS
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year College or University in Business, Procurement or related field preferred (MBA a plus)
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance


RELEVANT INFORMATION

Requires full-time work during regular business hours. Work outside regular business hours may be required to complete assignments. In the performance of essential duties, requires mental alertness, keen vision, ability to sit for long periods of time. Requires frequent use of computer and/or calculator. Working conditions are typical office conditions.
