Georgia Pacific's Corporate Development group is seeking an Investment Analyst to join the team based in Atlanta, GA. GP's Corporate Development group supports all of GP's business units (i.e. Consumer Products, Building Products, and Packaging & Cellulose) with sourcing, analyzing, and executing M&A opportunities in addition to executing divestitures and other strategic projects. This is an exciting opportunity to make the career move from an investment banking role or consulting firm to a stable and well positioned company.

Location GP HQ: This is an Atlanta-based role. While GP offers some remote work flexibility, there is a need for multiple onsite days and a weekly in-office presence for this role given the importance of fostering in person relationships and collaborating with teams across the company. We are seeking local applicants, or candidates that are willing to relocate to the area.

What You Will Do In Your Role

Partner with GP's business units to evaluate and execute acquisition and divestiture opportunities. The Investment Analyst will generally support an active pipeline of M&A and divestiture projects for the business, working closely with the respective leadership teams and capabilities across GP's business units. The Investment Analyst may also support strategic projects working with GP's Strategy & Business Development team and other leaders across GP and its parent company, Koch Industries.

The Investment Analyst is expected to take an active role in problem solving, particularly in the compiling, synthesizing, and analyzing company and financial information as well as competitive benchmarking. As an active member of the team, the Investment Analyst is expected to be an active learner and contribute their ideas and viewpoints as we seek to maximize value for the company. The Investment Analyst will gain broad exposure to a variety of businesses and functional areas and is expected to gain greater responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Decision-Making Support: Execute financial analyses that help leadership better understand opportunities and make better decisions. Construct, perform and communicate results from analyses to help improve understanding of key drivers, disaggregated business performance and potential ranges of outcomes
  • Valuation / Modeling: Build financial models to understand financial impacts of potential mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. Learn and utilize GP and Koch investment and decision frameworks (e.g. marginal analysis, hold value analysis, capital consumed framework)
  • Prepare concise presentations on potential transactions and investments for senior management that identify and assess valuation, return profile, potential synergies and key risks
  • Market / Competitor Analysis: Perform industry research and competitive analysis related to potential acquisition opportunities and markets of interest. This could include market sizing, cost benchmarking, and/or market point of view development
  • Participate in discussions with senior management
  • Assume responsibility for 100% compliance with the laws, regulations, company policy, and industry standards applicable to this role

Who You Are (Basic Requirements)
  • Completed bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Business, Economics, Data Science, Accounting, or related quantitative field
  • Career experience in an investment banking, private equity, corporate M&A, consulting, or roles that provided the transferrable skills required for this position
  • Financial analysis, economic analysis, investment modeling, data science and/or decision support experience
  • Experience working with large datasets (e.g. transforming, synthesizing, analyzing and visualizing data)
  • You have experience delivering high quality work under tight deadlines
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

Compensation: For our Investment Analyst level role, we anticipate paying $85,000 to $100,000 per year. This role is also eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
