YOUR MISSION (The Job Description)

You will be responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Staff, ensuring that a highly productive and well-trained staff is always maintained. The Assistant Director of Finance ensures the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of the financial reporting and accounting functions while providing information and assistance to the Director of Finance. You will also be required to communicate, coordinate, resolve money issues and work well with other teammates, departments, managers, and guests. Most of all, we want you to have FUN since you play a huge role in creating that memorable guest experience for your teammates, customers (external and internal), vendors, etc.!

THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties)

In helping you understand your role in working for a world class organization, the following is a list of your essential job responsibilities. Please keep in mind that this list is not all inclusive and that you may be asked to perform other job tasks by your supervisors/managers not listed below in the constant quest to provide extraordinary customer service experience for our guests:

  • Assist in leading all Finance areas of the property including, but not limited to, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Inventory Control
  • Hire, retain, motivate, evaluate, and direct general and administrative staff, ensuring team members receive adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established objectives
  • Develop a working knowledge of all accounting positions and functions and be able to perform these duties in the event of a turnover, absence or vacation
  • Monitor property revenues and expenses and ensure the accurate recording in accordance with Virgin Hotels' established guidelines. Investigate and critique variances to budget or to prior year and offer practical improvement methodologies to management
  • Ensuring the property is in compliance with all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracted legal agreements, and proper execution of all operational taxes. Aid management in enforcing compliance on all these items
  • Analyze financial data and operations to assist and advise management in maintaining the financial objectives of the property
  • Review and interpret unusual transactions or unexpected financial results to determine the appropriate accounting treatment
  • Ensure that all balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations are properly reconciled on a timely basis
  • Manage and maintain the property fixed asset database, including new additions and disposals.
  • Establish and continually audit all internal financial controls including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, and property assets
  • Continually focus on training and development programs for accounting associates to cultivate the "brightest" and "best" talent within the industry
  • Direct or prepare all financial reports in accordance with Virgin Hotels' requirements meeting various due dates and deadlines
  • Conduct and/or attend and contribute to periodic meetings with management from other departments on property to ensure accurate and complete financial statements
  • Monitor property compliance in meeting required report deadlines and due dates and react accordingly
  • Monitor the accurate production of the property daily operating reports
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
  • Attend meetings/training as required by management
  • Perform other duties as requested by management

MUST HAVE'S

  • Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
  • A 4-year college degree with an Accounting/ Finance concentration and a minimum of 6 years of related progressive experience in hotel Accounting or related field
