The Senior Service Engineer role, is a service engineering position that combines software and systems engineering to maintain and run cloud-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems. Our team ensures that our services and products have reliability and uptime to meet the needs of our ever-growing customer base in a mission critical industry. This opportunity will allow you to develop automation for recurrent issues, increasing scalability and driving efficiencies.

Day to day working with other team members on a variety of tasks from Tape Libraries ( Enterprise/LTO), PowerShell, Automation, monitoring, incident management, completing capacity and deployment-based service planning, defining monthly and weekly activities like patch & vulnerability management, Cluster, Server Troubleshooting, and playing a pivotal role in our major incident response team should an incident impact the availability or reliability of Xarchive.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain tape library systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. Thorough knowledge about the firmware testing and complete configuration of tape libraries.
  • Design, engineer, test, deploy, and operate enterprise and LTO tape libraries.
  • Deployment of racks, clusters and tape libraries across Azure datacentres.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to servers, clusters and network infrastructure, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for system failures and performance bottlenecks, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Respond to and resolve emergent issues, acting as incident manager and following through to prevent problem recurrence using ITIL based Problem Management approaches.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, .Net, PowerShell, Python, or similar languages.
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ Yrs. of expertise in tape library technologies, including hardware, software, and configuration best practices along with knowledge of data protection techniques for various workloads
  • 4+ yrs. with proven track record of troubleshooting complex issues related to nodes, servers, storage systems, and network infrastructure.
  • 4+ Yrs. in Problem Management role with the ability to perform root cause analysis, trend analysis, and implement proactive solutions.


Other Requirements:
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
    • OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, .Net, PowerShell, Python, or similar languages.
    • OR Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, .Net, PowerShell, Python, or similar languages.
    • OR equivalent experience.


Service Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
