Summary

This position is located in the Office of Communications, Digital Communications Group of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides secure web-based application solutions to enable efficient business operations and drive business agility.

Duties

  • Plans, organizes, and participates in application development efforts for the digital program and is engaged in applied software research and development, ensuring alignment and compliance with FDIC's Cybersecurity and Privacy program.
  • Applies knowledge of current security best practices for application development; resolves discrepancies; and implements any additional cybersecurity controls needed to ensure compliance with NIST requirements.
  • Leads the Architecting, Designing and Developing of web and cloud-based applications, using a cybersecurity lens, ensuring compliance with DevSecOps best practices, and including, configuration, integration, unit testing, and test automation of pipelines, platform, and database components.
  • Manages and leads complicated special projects, serving as a project lead.
  • Solves a wide range of complex operational and support problems to meet customer requirements. Draws upon multiple IT specialties in order to accomplish complex tasks.
  • Holds discussions with stakeholders to ensure that work activities conform to business requirements and IT, cybersecurity and privacy standards.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 13 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience applying information security principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices to the development of cloud and web-based applications; administering development, operation, and maintenance of an application environment; creating custom applications or creating customization for integration with COTS solutions (Drupal, Salesforce, etc.); and using scripting languages, databases, web frameworks, Cloud technologies, CI/CD pipelines and software (e.g.Docker).

You must have Information Technology (IT)-related experience which demonstrates proficiency in each of the following competencies:

There is no substitution of education for the experience for this position.

Additional information

Selectee(s) for this position will be required to report to their duty station office at least 1 day per pay period beginning January 2, 2024, and at their supervisor's direction to support mission and project needs. In person reporting requirements are expected to increase in July 2024.
