Job Summary:
To provide professional leadership and coordination in the planning, implementing and administering of job classification and compensation programs for the University of Mississippi Medical Center; to research and evaluate organizational needs and market trends; participate in compensation surveys. To provide integrated advice and support to human resources and constituencies on a wide range of compensation-related issues.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, administrative management, or related field and five years of professional compensation experience. Hospital and/or healthcare institution experience preferred.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration required: CCP preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of federal and state wage and salary laws and regulations. Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions to complex human resources issues. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal and organizational skills. Detail-oriented. Research, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Skill in analyzing and evaluating job content, certification and registration requirements, and writing accurate job descriptions. Excellent computer skills including knowledge and skills with Microsoft office products.

Responsibilities
  • Provides professional leadership and coordination in the planning, implementing, and administering of job classification and compensation programs. Provides guidance and training to constituencies on day-to-day compensation issues, policy interpretation, problem solution and compliance with university regulations and state and federal law.
  • Consults with constituencies regarding requests for new or revised job classifications/job descriptions; evaluates needs based on organizational or market factors, and creates and situates classifications/descriptions into the UMMC structure as appropriate, assessing appropriate pay grades through the use of job evaluation methodology and market indicators.
  • Researches and analyzes competitive compensation practices in the job market; contributes to established compensation surveys.
  • Monitors market/economic trends on a regular basis to assess internal equity and competitiveness within the marketplace, develop strategies and recommend adjustments as necessary to support UMMC strategic plans and objectives.
  • Provides high level computer-based analytical support for initiatives within the department to include cost analyses and financial impact projections, and coordinating mass pay changes with appropriate parties and dis; serves as an internal resource for other compensation/human resource staff.
  • Collaborates in the development, writing, editing and modification of operating polices, guidelines and procedures, as appropriate.
  • Review and release hiring proposals/web actions according to established compensation practice, guidelines, hiring scales, and policy referring questionable requests/actions as appropriate.
