Analytical Scientist (Biochemistry)
Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc - Rensselaer, NY
Regeneron is looking for an Analytical Scientist for our Biochemistry Development team in the Quality Control Analytical Sciences department. As a subject matter expert, and leader in the lab, you will support the Manufacturing, Process Sciences (PS) and Quality Control (QC) departments through the development, optimization, troubleshooting, validation, transfer, and application of biochemistry based analytical test procedures. This position will focus on electrophoretic methods used to assess products for purity and impurities, charge variants, and provide stability indicating information.

As an Analytical Scientist in the Biochemistry Development Group, a typical day may include the following:
  • Collaborate with partner groups to establish, develop, and/or optimize analytical electrophoresis methods to test purity and impurities, charge variants, and stability of protein products (in-process and final).
  • Execute experiments applying microchip capillary electrophoresis (MCE), imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (iCIEF), or multiplex western systems.
  • Proactively engage and lead troubleshooting activities for established electrophoresis methods by providing scientific support across the program life cycle.
  • Interpret data and analyze results to design follow-up experiments needed to understand method robustness, potential sources of variability, and complete assay development. Present results to management and at cross-department meetings.
  • Independently create scientifically sound project development plans and relevant experiments using high-level project timelines and goals.
  • Write and review assay development and qualification protocols and reports, SOPS, technical documents, investigation summaries, and IND/BLA submission sections.
  • Stay at the leading edge of industry trends and agency requirements in the analytical testing space as it pertains to development and transfer in the GMP environment.
  • Use statistical tools to develop quantitative measures in decision making around assay development and performance.
  • Use scientific literature to develop scientific arguments for white paper justifications, investigation conclusions, new technology, and process improvements.
  • Produce and maintain accurate records.
  • Train junior level group members and act as a mentor within the laboratory.
This role might be for you if:
  • You have experience in analytical testing and analytical method development
  • You are able to work comfortably in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative environment, on multiple projects in parallel, independently or as a group.
  • You are self-disciplined and proactive in your approach to meeting established projects goals.
  • You are detail-oriented, eager to learn and implement new ideas and techniques, and lead multiple projects in a team-based environment.
  • You have excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • You're interested in developing into a mentor and leader within the group.

To be considered for the Analytical Scientist- Biochemistry Development you must have a PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Bioengineering.

Level will be determined based on relevant experience.

Scientist requires a PhD and 0-2 years of experience.

Sr. Scientist requires a PhD and 2+ years of experience.

Experience working with microchip capillary electrophoresis (MCE), capillary electrophoresis (CE), multiplex western systems, and/or imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (iCIEF) is strongly preferred.
