This is your opportunity to join an AHS Addiction & Mental Health support team based in Grande Prairie's shelter/transitional housing setting, Rotary House. The role of the Addiction Counsellor III is to offer treatment groups, individual sessions as well as assist in applications to treatment centers. As a member of A&MH support team in this location you will be part of an interdisciplinary AHS team working collaboratively with the staff of Rotary House and other community agencies to engage clients in a recovery oriented, harm reduction approach to services. The successful candidate must be comfortable working with clients also experiencing homelessness, a vulnerable population that is often marginalized in society. This position reports to the Clinical Coordinator of the Chronic Supports to Homelessness Team/Assertive Outreach Team. Travel is not a regular requirement in this position but you may have occasional need to assist in client transportation for which a fleet vehicle is available. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor's degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act (Alberta) must maintain active registration.Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities.
