The Junior Machine Learning Engineer Role

Here's how you'll be making an impact:

  • Design, develop, and maintain AI products addressing diverse use cases, from predictive to generative and classification.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and domain experts to implement user-friendly AI solutions.
  • Work closely with product design teams to deliver critical functionalities supporting our AI vision.
  • Evaluate new technologies to enhance the performance, maintainability, and reliability of machine learning systems.
  • Apply software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and security.


We're looking for a teammate with:

  • Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related field, with a passion for keeping up on the latest in AI trends, including the below tech and what is coming next.
  • Minimum of 1 year in a similar role building production-quality AI/ML software; coupled with 3+ years of experience in large-scale data and distributed computing environments and the development of end-to end ML pipelines.
  • Skill with Python, Golang, Java, C++, as well as ML libraries and frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
  • Familiarity with foundational models like Llama, Falcon, OpenAI, Hugging Face, Mistral, etc; as well as ML workflow orchestration frameworks (e.g., MLFlow, Airflow, KubeFlow).
  • Cloud provider experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Expertise in working with unstructured data sources, including RAG, vector databases, knowledge graphs, grounding, prompt engineering, chain-of-thought, pre-training, fine-tuning; this includes SQL programming and SQL/NOSQL databases like MongoDB and ElasticSearch
  • Knowledge of ML/GenAI platforms (e.g., Sagemaker, Bedrock, Vertex AI, Azure AI Studio), as well as Deep Learning and Neural Network Architectures.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $110,000 CAD - $132,000 CAD per year. Final compensation offered by Qlik will be based on factors such as the candidate's location, job-related skills, education, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
