Project Engineer

We are looking for a talented mechanical or aerospace engineer who can successfully manage and engineer new aerospace assemblies from inception through shipping.

This position will conceptualize and analyze multiple alternatives and solutions to a given engineering problem; design both the part and the associated manufacturing process; solicit and evaluate quotes; design tooling; write planning; and troubleshoot manufacturing process while working with all levels of customers, suppliers, shop and management personnel.

Functions and Responsibilities
  • Ensure that specification requirements are identified and achieved, that the project ships on time, that quality requirements are met, and that processes used will enable cost objectives to be achieved.
  • Define process to be used for part manufacture, and produce planning used by manufacturing and suppliers to fabricate/assemble the product.
  • Estimate tooling, material and labor to build assigned product per customer specifications.
  • Communicate with customers & suppliers to support quotations and resolve technical issues.
  • Support/Lead development of aftermarket products which improve performance and/or lower costs for end-user customers.
  • Manage project within both internal and external deadlines and changing time constraints.
  • Provide on-going periodic maintenance and technical assistance or problem solving as required.
Skills, Education and Required Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
  • Ability to manage projects from quote through product delivery.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing principles.
  • Working knowledge of physical sciences, metallurgy and statistical design and methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel, from shop employees to customer management both internally and externally.
  • Hands-on, with strong mechanical aptitude, enjoys building things, and is capable of successfully managing increasingly complex engineering projects from inception through delivery.
  • Familiarity using CAD.
    Desired skills but not required:
  • Experience in aerospace.
  • Aircraft component and/or system design and qualification.
  • PMA and/or DER technical package development.
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations.
  • Sheet metal manufacturing utilizing stainless, titanium, high nickel, and other high temperature alloys.
Physical Requirements

Sit, stand and/or walk for 8-10 hours per day, depending on work schedule based on 40 hours/week. Occasionally lift items that could be up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions

Use of protective clothing, goggles, helmets with protective lenses, and other equipment to prevent burns and eye injuries.

The wage range for this role considers allowances for several factors, including but not limited to required experience, skill level, prior training, licensure/certifications, education and other business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is \$68,460-\$114,101.
