Life Sciences Technology Strategy Senior Manager

An evolving customer and regulatory landscape, mounting pipeline of next-gen assets and portfolio pressures, and intensifying competition are presenting new organizational and operational hurdles for Life Sciences companies. These complex market dynamics are requiring new levels of rigor and insight in business strategy development and problem-solving, both domestically and globally.

We are looking for practitioners who will work alongside Life Sciences organizations from bio-technology firms to global big pharma to medical devices, to drive business value through end-to-end delivery of solutions based on strategy development for heart of business issues.

Work You'll Do

As a Senior Manager, you will develop technology strategies to increase a company's profitability, catalyze growth, and ultimately deliver value across the stakeholder set. You will manage and deliver components of client engagements that identify, design, and implement technology solutions to solve our client's most complex business challenges; You will determine the platforms to adopt, the architectures to build, and the capabilities improvements required to operate at efficient scale. As a trusted advisor, you will be expected to craft quality deliverables and effectively manage the team and day-to-day relationships - whether on a small engagement or as part of a larger transformation. When not serving clients, you will participate in the development and presentation of proposals for business development activities.

Activities include:
  • Educate clients on the latest technology trends and implications for their business
  • Design actionable strategies and roadmaps that clients can utilize to deliver business value
  • Develop financial models depicting both the financial obligation and future value of future technology implementations
  • Manage teams and projects in the identification of business requirements, functional design, process design (including scenario design, flow mapping), prototyping, testing, training, defining support procedures.
  • Develop and manage vendor relationships
A Senior Manager at Deloitte is expected to contribute to the firm's growth and development in a variety of ways, including:
  • Engagement Management: Lead engagement planning and budgeting; mobilize and manage engagement teams; define deliverable structure and content; facilitate buy-in of proposed solutions from top management levels at the client; direct on-time, quality delivery of work products; manage engagement economics; manage engagement risk
  • Client Management: Manage day to day interactions with executive clients and sponsors
  • Business Development: Develop and maintain contact with top decision makers at key clients; organize and lead pursuit teams; participate and lead aspects of the proposal development process; contribute to the development of proposal pricing strategies
  • Practice Development & Eminence: Develop practical solutions and methodologies; develop "thoughtware" and "point-of-view" documents; participate in public speaking events; get published in industry periodicals
  • People Development: Perform role of counselor and coach; provide input and guidance into the staffing process; actively participate in staff recruitment and retention activities; provide leadership and support for delivery teams and staff in local offices
Qualifications

Required:
  • 8+ years of professional experience in a consulting or relevant industry setting with demonstrable depth of knowledge
  • 8+ years of experience working with senior executives crafting and implementing strategies for technology improvement to articulate leading business issues and trends
  • 6+ years of Life Sciences industry experience with focus on technology and transformation strategy consulting projects
  • 6+ years of experience managing large technology engagements (minimum of 2 full life cycle implementations)
  • 2+ years of experience, either functioning as a Senior Manager in a Consulting environment or managing teams in an Operating environment. In either scenario, experience focused on the intersection of Technology and Strategy to include Corporate & Business Unit Tech Strategy and Business Transformation
  • Must have participated in one or more projects involving:
    • Technology strategy definition
    • Technology value / business case formation (e.g. cost to achieve and cost to operate models)
    • Vendor selection (e.g. service providers, software providers, ERP platforms)
    • Technology outsourcing advisory
    • Technology capability and skillset assessments
    • Technology cost optimization
    • Enterprise and solution architecture
  • A Bachelor's Degree with focus on Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Technology, Systems Engineering or equivalent
  • Ability to travel 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Live within commuting distance to one of Deloitte's consulting offices
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

  • An advanced degree in the area of specialization (MBA Preferred)

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $203,400 - $339,000.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
