Job Description

The Data Engineering Sr Data Analyst will be responsible for partnering with other IT and Business recipients of data warehouse resources and bridging the gap between requested needs and Data Engineering developers. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the assessment, design, and monitoring of enterprise data objects and processes. They will work with a team of subject matter experts across the IT organization to source data for inclusion/reporting in the data warehouse. They will be specifically tasked with understanding key business imperatives and translating them into data requirements, The incumbent will need to have a good overarching understanding of the data ecosystem at Sherwin-Williams including how the pieces come together, especially as it relates to Paint Stores Group. They will be responsible for supporting the stated goals of the Data Engineering team.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning
  • Be part of large projects with multiple assigned capabilities.
  • Lead and work within the team and with various business divisions and functional areas in support of business operations.
  • Be the trusted partner for identified capabilities. Build relationships with business stakeholders and partners.
  • Identify business/technical challenges and opportunities for improvement and provide recommendations and goals.
  • Establish project and capability metrics and KPI's and be able to track progress.
  • Drive change.

Acquisition & Deployment
  • Gather, document, analyze, and provide recommendations regarding functional business requirements for capability related work. Provide similar support for others within team.
  • Provide documentation and guidance for business/technical efforts for large sized efforts. Lead/SME role with business clients and technical teams.
  • Lead the defining, building, and validation of acceptance criteria.
  • Assist with the defining, building and validation of test cases.

Operational Management
  • Participate with the development of team norms, support agile methodologies, and participate within the Agile community. Share Agile best practices with the program.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of high impact internal team process improvement. Ensure cooperation with peer functional areas.
  • Documentation of work. Includes System Flows, Data Flows, Process Flows, Detail design for project and capability level efforts.
  • Provide guidance to the team by assisting team members in understanding efforts needed to complete tasks. Provide direction on solving complex activities.
  • Ability to support simultaneous work efforts. Manage multiple across program projects, assignments, and priorities.

Incidental Functions
  • Assists Quality Assurance (QA type activities). Collaborates with the development of test scripts and performs manual testing.
  • Training. Ability to train /mentor program members regarding the Analyst role. Ability to review and share amongst others on the team.
  • Participate in hiring activities by interviewing and ranking while keeping affirmative action and equal opportunity policy at forefront.


Qualifications

Formal Education & Certification
  • Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) or in lieu of a degree, at least 12 years in experience in the field of Information Technology or Business (work experience or a combination of education and work experience in the field of Information Technology or Business)

Knowledge & Experience

Required
  • 5+ years IT experience
  • 3 yeas of Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or Technology Analyst experience.
  • 3 years of SQL, P-SQL, or ANSI SQL.
  • Advanced knowledge of SDLC.
  • Knowledge of various tools such as Word, Excel, Mural, Visio, and Control-M.
  • Knowledge of Agile, Jira, and ETL.
  • Experience with data warehousing and database constructs.

Preferred Experience:
  • Detailed understanding of data flows across SW internal systems.
  • Experience working with various Business Teams and ability to translate their requirements into IT action plans.
  • Proven track record of success in high pressure, fast paced environments.
  • Knowledge and understanding of concepts and tools for data fabrics, data mesh, data catalogs, and universal semantic layers.

This position is eligible to work in the office three days a week and has the option to work remotely two days a week.
