We have an exciting opportunity for a Geospatial Scientistto join the team with our Science & Exploration Division.

The Geospatial Scientist will:
  • Employ GIS and remote sensing techniques to Earth, Moon, and other planetary image data in support of International Space Station (ISS) and Artemis missions
  • Provide science services and technology products to a range of human exploration organizations including Gateway, Orion, the lander/ascent systems, spacesuits, EVA, and ISS
  • Interact with scientists, engineers, and managers in a highly dynamic and occasionally time critical environment
  • Develop funding proposals for submission to relevant scientific and technology grant solicitations opportunities
  • Perform other duties as required


Requisition Qualifications:

  • A BS degree is typically required.
  • Proficient with GIS and/or remote sensing software
  • Proficient computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office suite, Adobe products)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with teammates, customers, and management at all levels
  • Ability to prepare written documents and presentation to verbally present at various meetings
  • Ability to develop innovative and creative work ideas and work without specific tasking

Requisition Preferences:
  • BS in geoscience, lunar science, planetary science, image science, GIS, remote sensing, computational science or relevant science fields with applicable experience
  • Proficient with GIS and/or remote sensing software
  • Proficient computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office suite, Adobe products)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with teammates, customers, and management at all levels
  • Ability to prepare written documents and presentation to verbally present at various meetings

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
