Mission Statement

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to support the NISSC II contract. As a member of our team, you will support corporate and customer mission to provide world-class IT services and support that connects systems and users across NORAD in the areas of software development/maintenance, network services, cyber security, systems administration, and other mission-critical areas.

JOB SUMMARY:

Shift work is required to support 24×7 operations. It is important to be available to work any shift/designated hours required including nights, weekends, and holidays on a modified Panama schedule.

The Senior Systems Administrator implements/maintains various technical systems and serves as an interface to the supported community users. Provides guidance, direction, and training to others in the group. Serves as a backup to the lead computer systems administrator. Builds and debugs complicated hardware and software to correct difficult problems using technically advanced problem-solving skills. Develops and implements system documentation and operating procedures. Identifies and corrects processing anomalies. Operates, monitors, identifies, reports, coordinates, and documents abnormalities for Space Defense Operation Center (SPADOC)/Space Predictive Effects Analysis Results Reporting (SPEARR) systems, servers, clients, and peripheral devices following operating instructions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Train, mentor, and guide teammates on all Legacy Space systems including Linux, Windows, Cisco, and IBM mainframe environments.
  • Act as a liaison between the engineering team, upper management, and the customer.
  • Maintain servers, switches, routers, and firewalls in support of the SPADOC infrastructure.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on SPADOC systems; responsible for determining and analyzing the root cause of all anomalies that occur and provide corrective actions.
  • Responsible for reporting and creating supporting documentation for hardware/software issues.
  • Performed database actions to include database backups, dataset/database cleanup, and user account creation.
  • Responsible for routine backups, new server deployment, SAN management and maintenance, MS SQL server administration, server performance/uptime monitoring, power monitoring and allocation, and failed hardware replacements.
  • Plan, document, coordinate, and perform day-to-day operations and systems administration procedures on SPADOC/SPEARR systems.


Position requirements:
  • DoD IAT Level II or higher or SEC+
  • TS/SCI Clearance.
  • 5 years of direct experience.
  • 8 years of work history.
  • Must have NISC II experience.
  • Experience with system administration of Microsoft Windows operating systems (OS) administration and associated hardware.
  • Experience with Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies.
  • Must know the difference between virtual machine and Remote Desktop.
  • Must be capable of supporting the CMSFS 24x7x365 environment independently as they may work alone.


PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Have the VMware Certified Professional (VCP)/VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) certificate.
  • Experience with Cyber and Space Operations.
  • Have basic experience with and system administration of Red Hat Enterprise or Linux environments.
  • Experience with basic Windows System Administration or Space Defense Operations Center (SPADOC) or space situational analysis or space orbital analysis.


This position is expected to pay $120,000 - $125,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Essential Functions

Work Environment
  • Work will be performed inside a large facility. An inside environment may be a cubicle or a lab environment (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting).
  • Commuting between locations may be required daily (~10-minute drive)
  • Work assignments vary based on client requirements.
  • Work may include travel with the military to participate in exercises in austere conditions.


Physical Requirements
  • Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.


Equipment and Machines
  • General office equipment includes telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • May require operating motor vehicles for commuting between locations.


Attendance
  • Regular attendance per the established work schedule is mandatory.
  • You may be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work.


Travel
  • In and around travel may be required.


Other Essential Functions
  • Employment is contingent upon obtaining all required certifications within the timeframe specified in a waiver by the government (if applicable) and maintaining required certifications through the duration of the contract. Failure to obtain/maintain required certifications will result in disqualification for this position and could result in termination.

  • Grooming and dress are usually business casual but dependent on the client's standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.
